I am a bit frustrated with my school's financial aid department. They said they were going to post financial aid award letters beginning in May. But instead of an award letter, I get this stupid FAFSA verification thing. Doesn't it seem awfully late for them to do a FAFSA verification? It's not that I mind being verified, but when it's already nearly the end of May and it takes 3-4 weeks to complete the verification process, it's completely annoying. Now I have to wait until like June to find out how much aid I'm getting. Grrr!

I'm sorry to read about your frustration. Perhaps you could contact your school's financial aid office to get a general estimate of what your aid will be (or use an online calculator to determine the general level of your aid award)? UPenn took a while to send my aid offer, and my dad was able to call them and get a pretty good estimate a few weeks before they actually sent the aid package (he provided them with some of his tax information over the phone to facilitate this process).

Good luck!

What school are you talking about? Does it guarantee to meet 100% of financial need? If not, you may have a hard time getting aid because it's possible that their financial aid funds may be running out.

This happened to me two years ago -- now I just send in a copy of my tax forms and w2's when I file the FAFSA. I end up getting verified every year, so it helps save time.
