I've been reviewing all of the applications I'll be applying to so that I can enhance my IUB experience this weekend and I've realized a made a major hiccup.

The Fry Scholars Program seemed to be a fair scholarship for DA Kelley applicants. Unfortunately, I've just now become aware of the program and I'm a day late on the application deadline. I've contact the DA Kelley contact under the program's contact section but was wondering if you guys could help.

If I missed my chance freshman year is it possible to apply sophomore year? I'm OOS and I feel so bad that I missed the deadline considering I'll be full pay (before merit kicks in) and the program sounds good.

Unfortunately, it does not look like you will be able to apply for the Fry program your sophomore year (that’s actually true for most major scholarships, because they are designed to attract strong freshmen students).

Havee you turned in the SSA and did you apply with enough time to get an automatic academic scholarship?

The Wells Scholars Program on campus will take one or two sophomores/juniors admitted at IU, and is a full-ride…but you have to conisder that that is one or two out of the entire IU campus.

Unfortunately I was not given an SSA scholarship (GPA 4.2; 29 ACT). I received the Non-Resident IU Prestige scholarship ($5,000) based on my acceptance.

How much was the Fry Scholarship worth? The more I read up on it, the more I realized I made a big mistake. I understand that I dropped the ball by missing the deadline. It seems I should have been more focused on this instead of my application for the KLLC, Hutton, and Hudson and Holland.

I’ve contacted their office via email just to see if there’s any possibility of applying later and I would like to call them. What office would I call for this? Of course, I do not expect any good news, but it’s worth hunting just to see if it’s at all a possibility.

The SSA scholarships haven’t come out yet. They will be reviewed and will come out in March/April/May, but the app was due already (or is rolling with the priority deadline already passed, I’m not sure which).

You might have some luck calling the main Kelley office and asking who handles the scholarship.

I did not receive an application through the SSA. I’ve reviewed my admissions packet and my OneStart for confirmation and I wasn’t eligible to apply for some reason?

Ah… sorry. Yes, the SSA is sent to people that meet a set of academic criteria, though I’m not sure what they are (or if that data is released). If you aren’t able to qualify for the Coste scholarship, and you are a DA Kelley student, do super well your first year at IU, and you may be eligible for additional departmental scholarships. Good luck!
