Fseog

What are the requirements for this?

I recieved 3 aid packages, 2 had the FSEOG award but 1 didn't. Shouldn't the Federal aid be consistant in all the aid packages?

FSEOG varies from school to school. It is more limited than PELL - a school is given a certain amount of FSEOG $s and once they have awarded that money it is gone. Also each school seems to have a different maximum they can award - the max max is $4000 but our State U the max is $1000

PELL on the other hand you should get the same from every school as it is based on your FAFSA EFC and follows a federally issued table.

I applied to Michigan and all my financial aid documents and everything were sent in ahead of all the deadlines (if anything, I was one of the first people to receive the aid package). I find it ironic that I did not receive the FSEOG.

Is it worth calling them and asking about it?

The worst they can say is no! So yes it is worth a try. Good luck.

We are still waiting for the financial aid package from my Ds school. Submitted FAFSA very early in Feb. Admittedly we had a special circumstances professional judgement review but it is nearly 3 months now. I am going crazy.

even if you qualify, the FSEOG is not guaranteed -- the school can award it as they see the need.

My EFC was only 1300ish.

My EFC was 273 last year and this year it is 194. I received a FSEOG last year of $2200. For the next school year, I received no FSEOG -- but instead, I got state and institutional money (and a better package).

The college has a number of different places where it can draw money from to award -- I have no idea how they do it, but other than the Pell grants and Stafford loans, they can choose how to award it.

However -- I am not saying you should not ask for more! (just that they don't have to award it). I would definitely tell them it was in your other packages and ask them to add it to this school's package.
