I want to enroll in Summer Bridge, but once I began to fill out the "My 2011 Summer Aid" app, it told me that I would need to take out a loan of $2000. I thought the whole program was free if you qualified? If I need to take out loans, then I definitely am not up for it. Can anyone confirm it?

Of course. You’re never going to be able to take units at any college or university for free unless you have a scholarship.

There actually is a scholarship you can apply for that will pay for Summer Bridge.

FSSP: Register! (under step 4).

If you’re not awarded that scholarship, then it’s $247/unit plus a one time $150 fee. You don’t have to accept loans- you can also pay out of pocket.

In my opinion, the FSSP program is a waste of time anyway. You’re way better off just taking classes at a community college so that you can fulfill GE requirements.

Damn, I don’t want to pay for any loans. I’d rather just sign up for SPOP then. I already turned in an application and a 2010-2011 FAFSA though. Can I still withdraw my application?
