FSU Add/Drop

I'm going to be transferring into the college this fall, however I have to wait until orientation in July to register. My problem is, I need morning classes due to my ADHD meds. Anyway, I'm going to the business college and was wondering if there is any chance that morning business classes will be open during add/drop week.

Thanks

You should actually talk to the Dean of the College of Business about the class issue. I’m willing to bet they would try to make some openings for you…

actually, I suspect that very early morning classes would be easier to get…most kids don’t want to get up early

Most student try to stay away from morning classes so I think you have a good chance.

I also would like to know if classes become available during this time. I am looking a the courses for Fall of 2011 and all of the general chemistry courses are already gone. What a chemistry major to do?

Classes generally open up during fall open registration in July, and AGAIN during add/drop that starts the Saturday before classes start. There are always students who do not pass say Organic I who cannot take Orgo II, or those who don’t get a C or higher in Chem II that can’t take Orgo I.

Then, if you cannot get a class, you start showing up for the first class and if there is a no show THE SEAT IS GIVEN that day by the prof. Say there is an 8:30 section Monday the first day of class of a class you need. Get there early. If there are no no-shows, keep showing up to the next one. You will likely get a slot. FSU has a first day attendance policy, if you don’t show you loose your spot.

And the Chem dept historically opens up more sections. If you go to course look up, and search by unchecking the open sections only box (you often have to do the process twice) look for sections of a class you need with 0 seats assigned and 0 seats left. For instance, under Fall Chem II there are two sections with 0 seats assigned. Likely they will open those up and add 31 seats in each since the other sections have 31. They hold those for summer registration for those with AP/IB credit, or transfers.

Trust me, if you need Chem II, there will be at least one student who is a no show for an 8am class. The same applies to other Chem course.

Don’t stress, spots open up.

Here is the Dept site for class updates. [Department of Chemistry [Undergraduate Course Announcements]](http://www.chem.fsu.edu/undergrad/course-announcements.php)

Here is a form for when classes are full https://www.chem.fsu.edu/undergrad/course-req.php</a></p>

And grades post May 4th or so. Watch spots open up after that in the July registration window. Summer grades post August 10th. Same thing. FSU automatically drops students after grades post if they do not meet prereq’s. This may not happen right away but will happen by the time the registration window open. The Sat before fall classes start, be on the computer at 8am when add/drop opens. And watch all weekend long for movement. My guess is that you won’t even have to wait that long.

Thank you so much for the info. I did what you said and I see all of the classes that are already full. I will be watching and waiting in July and I think the OP should too. Good luck!

Check in JULY and do not be frustrated if you still don’t have a class. During add drop in AUGUST there are spaces to be had…
