kinda freaking out...

all of the general chem 1 classes are full, and i dont choose classes till the first week of july because im enrolled for the summer session. Does this normally happen? Will they open up more classes?

Its likely more classes will be opened as demand increases.

Lots of spots open up in July and again during drop/add, even for classes that are currently full. FSU also has a first day attendance requirement. If you do not show up for the first day, you are dropped from the class. So show up on the first day to a section or two, as anyone who is a no show on the first day is automatically DROPPED. And anyone who shows up without a seat can get one.

For Chem and Chem Lab, go to chem.fsu.edu and click on undergrad and then click on latest course info. Keep an eye for notes about new sections AND click on the course interest link and FILL IT OUT. After summer term, there WILL be openings during drop add.

ty sooo much! i filled out the course interest thing! tysm!

The day that registration opens back up in July, sign on to secure apps and keep you connection open. Check on course look-up repeatedly the first day and then periodically until the window closes. Once AP scores are out, places will open up. Once summer term is over more spots will open up during drop/add.

I notice that on course look-up, there are 5 sections with no seats assigned. If a section has 21 seats and none left, it is full. If a section has 0 seats and 0 seats assigned, it is a section they may be holding for possible opening based on need. There are 5 of those sections. That is a good sign.

Can I suggest you avoid Dr. K? It is an 8am class and he is one tough chem instructor. If you are a whiz at chem, you will do fine. If not, secure any class, but if it is a K class, keep trying to swap it for another prof.

They’ll likely open up more sections, however you should start planning just in case they don’t.

As an Environmental Science major, you have a lot of different courses to choose from in order to fill out your schedule. Here is the FSU course map for your major: [The Florida State University](http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/Maps/MapEnvscienceBS.html)

You could start looking for other classes to fill out your schedule. As I showed in the other thread about the shortage so to speak of open classes you could easily set up a course schedule not including CHM1045, and take it in the Spring if no more sections open up: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/12777867-post3.html</a></p>

Things might look bad, but you won’t fall behind if you take CHM1045 in Spring instead of Fall.

oh trust me, im going to try and avoid dr.k as much as i can. it sounds like frm the feedback that there will be more spots opening so ill be good.
