Ok so right now I am thinking about applying Early Action for FSU. I'm wondering if I stand a chance of getting in. I have a 3.7 unweighted G.P.A/ 4.5 unweighted. 28 on ACT (doesn't FSU superscore?) If so, I have a 31. I am in 5 AP and 2 advanced. Have taken most AP's at my school and am involved in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Key Club, Black Achievers, and the swim team. I am also Senior Class Treasurer. What are my chances ?

I would say that if you were white, you would have a good chance of getting in, but given the fact that you are a URM, I think you are definitely in.

In fact, I would think that you would have a good chance at University of Florida too.

Florida State lists “ethnicity” as “not considered” in freshman admissions:
[Florida State University Admissions Information - CollegeData College Profile](Florida State University Acceptance Rate | CollegeData)

So does University of Florida:

Given the political unpopularity of considering race and ethnicity in college admissions these days, it is likely that many or most public universities are now prevented from considering such by law, leaving the “URM hook” to be mainly found at private universities (which are selective enough that it matters).

At some state universities, what major you select may make a difference in admission selectivity.

UCB could not possibly be more wrong. For Gainesville in particular there might as well be a completely different set of admission criteria for "URM"s… Floridad is correct - you should have no problem.

The claims in #5 are counter to what the “One Florida” executive order 99-281 did:

[Affirmative Action: State Action](http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/educ/affirmative-action-state-action.aspx)

Your in, i know most of the florida schools as i am a applying to most this year and your grades are great. Just ride a decent essay and your good. Also just try for UF. You should be accepted to both. Chance me back please:)

UCB,

That is a great executive order and I wish it were followed, but take a look at any sampling of admission threads and/or the stats that have been discussed concerning the average sat scores for various enrolled ethnicities. Affirmative action is, to my endless disgust at the racism, very much alive at FL. Universities. I wish it were not the case.
