When I go into blackboard/My FSU online, all my courses for fall term are listed with links to tools and syllabi, except one course (AMH2097-Race/Ethnicity in US) doesn't have a link. Is this common or is maybe the instructor late posting the course info or just doesn't provide a link for some other reason. I wanted to check what books I might need for class and there is nothing posted in blackboard. Anyone know what gives with no blackboard site for the one course? Thanks.

You are probably not officially registered for that class. That is usually a sign that your standing with the school may have change due to your summer GPA. You should contact admissions right away.

No just kidding, but yah that usually happens all the time until classes officially begin. One out of my six classes has a link. : )

I just checked the “MyFSU” tab for the first time and I too have a few courses that do not have a blackboard page (look at the “status” column). To see what books I need for class I use the course search tool in Secure Apps, enter in the course I am looking for (make sure to uncheck the box saying “show open courses only”) and then just click on the section number that I am in. You should get a pop-up page that lists the required course materials.

Remember: Don’t just click on any random section because different sections require different materials :)

Hope that helps!

Also, under “My courses” on the home page I only have two classes that I am enrolled in and those are also the same two courses that I have blackboard pages for…so I’m guessing, like Sid said, that once you are officially enrolled a blackboard page will appear.

Tallalassie, if all you want to find out is books needed for all your classes, go into Secure Apps, then “My Class Schedule”. Change term to Fall and then “generate a schedule”. Click on “Buy Books” and the bookstore site will open in a new window, with a list of all books and materials listed for all your classes.
I don’t know why some classes are not links, but only 4 out of my seven classes are links.

Thanks everyone. I poked around and found what books are required in secure apps. The blackboard link may not be up yet for the one class because the instructor hasn’t been assigned yet–secure apps lists “staff” for instructor; all my classes that do have blackboard links have assigned instructors already. I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out why my posted class schedule lists all my classes, but the list for “enrolled classes” doesn’t include the class without blackboard link and assigned instructor. Maybe class doesn’t show on enrolled list until teacher is assigned?

When I read my “MYFSU” tab, it has 2 professors listed for ENC101. Are there two separate professors?

Maybe one is a professor and one is a teaching assistant?

Some courses will no go live on Blackboard until one or two days before class. If your class is listed on your schedule and on your bill, DO NOT WORRY about blackboard. The prof has not taken it live for the class. It will show up on BB and on the enrolled list if and when the prof takes it live.
