You have a shot because of your gpa, that guy that said everyone gets into FSU is full of ■■■■ and probably thinks UF is the promise land. lmao

Is high gpa and lower test score better than high test scores and low gpa?

@Weeknd everyone within reason DOES get in to FSU. UF is absolutely not the promise land, I didn’t even apply there but still applied to FSU.

What do you mean “within reason” though?

Everyone that is at the top of their class gets into FSU. Whereas some of the top kids get rejected from UF because its more “random” in its admission. Numbers are merky but essentially if you’re a ‘reasonable’ applicant to UF , you get into fs

High gpa, low test score is the better one.

Would you consider top 15% of 981 students top of the class or no?

Not entirely sure , usually top refers to top 10% but your class is larger than most. But honestly, i wouldn’t be worried about it, if you displayed interest you’ll get in. Your gpa is great and everything else besides test scores is good. AND you applied summer. I’d be suprised if you didnt get in

Honestly your sat might be a little a low, but your weighted gpa is off the charts good for fsu. I’ve seen people with lower stats get in.

You’re test score is just as important as your 4 year g, also, just because you are in a big school doesn’t mean admission rate will be higher for you, nothing is for sure with admissions, and FSU is most likely the second most competitive public school in Florida, maybe third to UCF, being a resident will help boost admission, but because you are Asian, that hurts your admission rate. I feel as if you shouldn’t be too worried, but its not a given that you are in. Chance me back

Hello! Need your advice and opinion for my chances of admission for FSU. My brother is there on his second year now. When he applied for the Fall 2013 he had a 4.1UWGPA and a 3.0WGPA. He also had a 28 on the ACT. I’ve already been accepted to others I applied, but FSU is one of my top 2 choices. Please let me know what chances you think I have:

UGPA: 3.18
WGPA: 3.97
ACT: 28 (not superstored)
SAT: Didn’t take
Class Rigor: 2 AP’s 1 Dual Enrollment, the rest have always been all Honors
Clubs: officer in 2 clubs
Community Service: 360 hours with Relay for life and Police Dept.
Extracurricular: Venture Crew from Boys Scouts of America for 4 years.

Post your own thread @florida2015, much easier for everyone to see and give feedback on.

Do you go to Ferguson?

A few clarifications and corrections.

FSU ranks the relative importance of academic and nonacademic factors from “Very Important” down to “Not Considered”. This can be found in the Common Data Set.

http://www.ir.fsu.edu/Common_Data_Set/2013-14/C.html

FSU views GPA and Class Rigor as “Very Important”, while standardized test scores are only “Important”. Class rank is of even less importance, as its “Considered”. FSU also doesn’t put as much importance on ECs/Volunteer work (it’s “Considered”) as it does with the academics.

FSU = GPA and Class Rigor > Test Scores > Class Rank

While UF also ranks GPA and Class Rigor as “Very Important”, it also ranks the application Essay, EC’s, and Volunteer work as “Very Important”. This makes UF seem more random in its admissions.

In other words, it’s easier to determine that you may qualify for FSU than UF, as you can focus more on GPA/Class rigor/Test Scores.

Being Asian does not hurt your chances at any Florida Public university. Not sure where Italkgood came up with that, Only 3% of FSU undergrads are Asian (7% at UF), so it’s pretty much a none factor. It’s a plus if you’re an URM (under represented minority) otherwise it doesn’t factor in.

Good Luck!
