FSU Class of 2023

@ufalumn1997 The application stated that notification would be on March 8th.

Thanks @vet2be93

My fsu honors was updated. Didn’t get an email.

Son got in honors, but is not a presidential finalist

@ufalumn1997 For sure not Presidential finalist? Or would it come in separate email?

@Propinquity4444

When he applied for honors it said he would get one of 3 emails. 1) no honors 2) honors 3) honors and presidential finalist

So, he’s sure.

Congratulations to those who’ve gotten good news! FSU is a great school and I’m sure you (or your child) will be very happy there.
There are some amazing opportunities at Florida State- if there’s an opportunity to do honors college, Marching Chiefs, intramurals, study abroad…absolutely DO IT!

Will I get accepted with a 1290 and a 3.8?

@FLORIDASTATE6911 for what major? My son has 1260 and a weighted 3.9 applying to business school. I’m curious too. He’s OOS from Colorado.

@hokieinCO I don’t know yet, but I’m planning something related to business or Econ. I am in-state but I am asking for next year since I am only a junior at the moment. Good luck ?

Hi guys! I was accepted into FSU and LSU. I plan to pursue a business degree and am having a tough time making a decision. Anyone have any opinions? Thanks

@laurelrubens it just depends on your personal preference. Where you would rather spend your college years? Where would you be happiest? What campus visit made the biggest impact on you?

LSU Business is nationally ranked a bit higher (69) than FSU (79). However, FSU is currently building an $88M College of Business and just opened the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, the nation’s first stand alone entrepreneurship school at a public university. FSU Business is on a meteoric rise, as is the University overall.

FSU is rated 26th Best Public University (LSU is #70) and FSU is #70 Best University in the US (LSU is #140).

In-state vs out-of-state tuition can be a BIG deciding factor also.

I’m sure you have other reasons for considering these colleges. Congratulations on being accepted and good luck on your decision!

@laurelrubens , as a Louisiana resident, I sent my son to FSU over LSU recently. Louisiana is cutting education spending yearly, while Florida is pouring money into its colleges. I think an FSU business degree will be worth much more than one from LSU in coming years. But it all comes down to fit. If you love LSU, it’s a great place to spend four years.

@FLBeachBaby and @vistajay Thanks so much for your insightful thoughts. I’m going to tour both schools this week:) Hopefully I will be deciding soon!! Very helpful.

hey all,
has anyone seen a financial letter? Myfsu doesn’t provide much info on a FA package -
Are we missing something? Thx for the help

  • May 1st is comin’

Not a letter, but on your MyFSU student portal under financial aid. (I find the MyFSU App much easier to use than website). Select the 2019-20 year from the drop down. This will list scholarships, grants and government loans (offered - you must accept or decline). As of today, only 2019-20 Fall/Spring is posted. For summer admits, 2018-19 Summer financial aid will be posted very soon. FA is down for maintenance until 4/8 so if you qualify call if you don’t find it tomorrow. I assume if a student doesn’t see anything listed then they don’t qualify for FA and their offer of admission did not include financial aid. Scholarship info came with the offer of admission on 1/31.

She sees scholarship info and BFs but no other provisions for loans, work-study, etc to make up the difference.
Looking forward to seeing if FA going back online from maintenance mode provides any clarity.
