I agree, however, Ido believe (just my personal belief) that FAMU holds the "race card" against FSU. If FSU forces a split, FAMU can paint the picture as FSU tuning their backs on the education of African American engineers. This would be a PR nightmare for Florida State. I don't think FAMU would hesitate to threaten this or follow through on using this card, therefore leaving FSU in a tight spot. It is sad, but that is the state of the US today.</p>

<p>It's my opinion that is correct as well. This is a situation that screams for change. FAMU could certainly have a college of engineering and pursue goals particular to their identity as an HBCU. There is also no reason why FSU has to lay down and give up their goals of being a top public university and AAU member.</p>

<p>FAMU received a CoE due to a lawsuit against the state of Florida. There's no reason why Florida State has to be a party to that settlement.</p>
