I applied for Fall 2011 at Florida State University. I find out on March 16 whether I get in or not.

Will there still be any opportunities to still live on campus? I know that the first decision will get the best numbers but it seems like there aren't any left? I know they cut their numbers back a thousand this year as well.

From what I’ve heard, spots are going quicker than usual, (I believe they’re already in the 6000’s), but keep in mind not everyone that signed up will be attending FSU.

Sign up for housing immediately after you’re admitted. In years past, you couldn’t do this until midnight, but I believe this year people were able to do it at 6 PM the day before decisions were supposed to be released. If you sign up right after the decisions are released, I’d be very surprised if you don’t receive housing.

You can change your preferences and other settings after you sign up. Just make sure you sign up ASAP (literally) and get that priority number.

Sign up as soon as you know. No guarantees this year but yes you have a shot. While there are 6000 who signed up for a number, some did not pay in the 10 day time frame, some under 18 did not send in the parental consent. Some were ultimately accepted elsewhere after they got a priority number and will not actually pay their admissions deposit. EVEN IF YOU GET ON A WAITLIST FOR HOUSING, there are students who over the summer get off a waitlist to go elsewhere. If you get a number as soon as you can, you likely will get a room.

I was in the same boat as you last year, and my priority number was in the 5000s. I knew that I’d probably end up in a dorm I didn’t like so I applied for a living learning community. All you have to do is write 2 essays (at least for the Bryan Hall one). I think that most people who apply get in. Most living learning communities are in nice dorms in good locations. I think you find out if you were accepted into them sometime in April, and then you know automatically that you got housing. :)

I was accepted to FSU for spring 2012, I’m planning on attending another university for fall 2011, and then going to FSU. When should I apply for housing though? Because I checked the housing website, and the options they have is fall 2011/spring 2012, and summer 2011… When am I supposed to apply for housing?
