*My essay
Florida State University has always stuck out in my mind as an ideal institution for continuing my education. Although a well-rounded person should possess leadership, service, and global awareness, I believe that learning has been the most important factor in my life. The reason being is that I have been learning new things for as long as I can remember which has led me to who I have become today.

The most influential thing I have done to shift what I want to learn in school is joining my high schools Sports Medicine staff. I have learned so much from my trainers which has solidified my idea that I would want to go down the medical track in college. Another momentous tool I have learned from this organization is how to be CPR/ AED Certified since my trainers are CPR certifiers themselves. When I first arrived to the CPR certification class, I figured I would be too apprehensive to utilize any of the newly learned skills in an actual emergency so I just didnt think learning the skills would be too important. After viewing all of the instructional videos and exercising the maneuvers on the dummies, I realized that the abilities I learn that day could mean life or death for someone. That is the day when I knew that if I wanted to do anything medical in college, I would need to keep an open mind and be able to employ whatever I learn. Being in Sports Medicine has taught me that learning the skills is required to help injured athletes recover and get them back on the field as quickly but also as safely as possible. This group has also connected me to many other helpful resources like my schools Junior American Medical Association and several local Doctors to take beneficial advice from. The best part about this is the Doctors and trainers are completely happy to sit and talk with the staff about what we want to major in and tell us about what it takes to do these majors and what careers they lead to. This is another superb example of why learning is so important to me, since I learned so much about my future career from my trainers.

While I have acquired experience in all of the other factors, such as leading new recruits for sports medicine, counseling at an environmental science camp, and volunteering at an art camp, learning has been the most influential agent in my life and I hope to keep learning at Florida State University in the years to come.
