Living in Miami we know lots of students that choose to do the AA degree at TCC. It’s a two year program. Upon successful completion of the degree it’s an easy transfer to FSU. Many students love it. Our CAP advisors even recommend it for some students.
S22 got in - 33 ACT, top 1% of class, 4.0uw/4.4 weighted GPA, NMF
He got OOS waiver, $12K scholarship plus $2K NMF stipend.
Edit: accepted into Honors program too
Did anyone else get into Honors program but no merit mention?
That’s nice to hear. Being in state, all his IB friends got accepted. So he’s pretty bummed. He did get some great merit scholarships at Auburn and Bama, so could be headed out of state.
Are you in state? have same stats and honors acceptance and didn’t didn’t see merit
DS got it too!
DS Accepted to honors college with grandparent oos tuition waiver.

His honors app answers were among my favorite things he wrote.

In state, 1550 SAT, 5.1 weighted gpa

Congrats! It’s crazy that 3 of the 31 grandparents waivers are on this thread!
I wonder about that. Maybe they accepted more than their allotment expecting that some wouldn’t use it?
So thrilled that my son was accepted, with a 100 percent OOS waiver. After we were done jumping up and down, we read further, and realized he was accepted for summer, which he accidentally applied for (he checked his original application). He was so disappointed in himself that he did that. He would like Fall admission bc he won’t even be done with high school when summer starts. What do you think the chances are of him getting the same offer and switching to fall. He is waiting for a call back from admissions. Prayers and fingers crossed
Not very. This is the first year the FSU didn’t look at every student for both. That is look at all for fall and then assign them to where there was a slot. It was the first time every student had to make a choice. Because the change was announced after many in florida had applied FSU allowed for a change to be made. The CAP advisor at my daughter’s school called all applicants to her office for a meeting. She met with each student and then they updated the application to reflect the need of each student.
Congrats on the acceptance and good luck on trying to get it to be switched but…
Mine was LOL! She has a 1300, so she wouldn’t have qualified for it.
Sorry to hear this. We will be visiting Indiana soon, too. Did your son get a direct admit to Kelley?
My daughter also accepted Honors college (in state). Has friends in it and is excited- sister an FSU grad. Will apply for Presidential scholarship and we are hoping she will choose FSU. Congratulations to your son- make sure to get right on the housing app- even if he is not 100% decided. @MomofNPCC
He did not get direct admit to Kelley. That seems like a pretty big deal but not a total deal breaker. IU has the type of business building that FSU will build in future years.
When we visited FSU in October, we couldn’t even find the business school building. She did get a direct admit to Kelley, so I look forward to visiting. She loves everything about FSU, but the business school resources seem to be lacking, and I am not sure how important that is to her.
There are several summer sessions. I highly recommend Summer C. All FSU students (with some OOS exceptions) are required to take 2 classes at least one summer. Starting during Summer C (July session) will allow him to get a leg up acclimating to the campus and have a chance to make some great friends. He certainly would have qualified to get in for the fall, but if they don’t let him switch, please be open to thee summer.
My oldest son has OOS waiver fall admit and wanted to still do summer C, but they cancelled it the summer of 2020 due to Covid.
I have one at FSU and one at Bama, both taking advantage of merit scholarships. Love BOTH places!!!
Two of my daughter’s classmates received the summer admit and did Summer C. According to my daughter, they had a great time. I think it’s a big advantage to be able to get acclimated to the university before all the fall students get on campus - especially if you’re from out-of-state. I recall on the FSU thread from last year, the advice was to get the required summer session over with early and they don’t have to worry about it.
