FSU Fall 2022 Admission - Class of 2026

Do you know if they fixed it? We just went on and DS is #89. He is in at Honors College. Really torn between newer dorms and Landis.

Yes it was fixed at some point on Monday. Fortunately the number my son was given remained the same as Friday. I heard some people their numbers changed

We paid within the first hour of signups (got the parent agreement in the next day) and got 2352 so I guess there were a lot of people in the lottery and we were super unlucky.

This is not a bad number at all

My S22 has been accepted into the FYA program in Florence but is concerned about the year-long overseas commitment, the lack of a Freshman experience, and the small size. Can you shed any light on these issues?

Itā€™s an amazing program and life changing for the kids.
Donā€™t be to concern with the year long commitment. He had friends that only signed up for the first semester and were then scrambling to extend their Visa. One friend couldnā€™t extend, heā€™s in Tally now but going back to Europe for the summer.
You can change Study Centers in the Summer if you want.

Freshman Experience
FSU does an amazing job from the moment the kids get there, starting with Orientation Weekend which includes a welcome dinner and Sunday Brunch, they also have a Thanksgiving dinner and Farewell dinner at the end of the semester. They have planned activities during the semester, day trips and 2 weekend trips a semester. Fall was Rome and Naples, Spring Venice and not sure the other one.
There is a city wide soccer tournament against the other schools in Florence. FSU won it last semester against ESE, European School of Economics.
Students can travel independently on weekends, there are no classes on Fridays. He travels about one weekend a month, some travel more some less.

The students live in several apartments around town anywhere from a 5 to 25 min walk and there are apartments for a LLC on the top floor of the study center.

Small Class Size
His classes range from about 10 to 30 students in them
The city is an extension of the classroom. you may visit WW2 memorials, Museums, churches, Fashion houses or other historical sites.

There is a parents facebook group and a FSU Florence study center facebook group both with lots of helpful info
S didnā€™t know anyone before going but they all got together in snapchat groups

Message me if you have a more questions

1952 here!

Iā€™m 1936. Did you do yours and pay in the first 2 days?

Thatā€™s a fantastic number! My son got 265, which is great too. We did the lottery application on Wednesday, but didnā€™t pay until yesterday.

Visiting FSU this Sunday and Monday. DS22 admitted into Honors via Benaquisto Scholarship. Plans to study CS.

Any recommendations on where to stay Sunday night on/near campus? Where should we go to dinner that night?

If you want to stay close to campus, try Hotel Indigo or Hyatt House. Madison Social for a casual dinner (also known as ā€œMadSoā€).

Does anyone have any insight into the Pathways application and timeline? DD was deferred on 2/17. She received an email this morning reminding her to submit her LOCI but also encouraging her to submit her application for the Pathways year or semester abroad programs. This was the first time she was offered this option and I thought if they were going to offer this, it would have been included in the initial deferral? She submitted and weā€™ll see what comes of it. Weā€™re expecting the rest of her decisions by 3/18 so Iā€™m also curious about the time frame for this decision if anyone has previous experience.

Last year they announced pathways with the February decisions. This is the first year they have been delayed. I recommend calling FSU International Programs for more info

S21 currently in FYA Program its amazing

She got an email this morning which said those decisions will made in 2-3 weeks.

Does he feel like heā€™s missed out on the traditional freshman experience at all?

No not at all and you will have 3 years at the main campus.
He is enjoying having smaller classes and living in an amazing city, Florence, for his freshman year and then moving to Valencia Spain for the summer
So what else is there to make up for not being in Tally? Plenty to keep you busy with school weekend trips to Rome and Naples last semester they visited the Vatican, and all the major sites in Rome and Naples along with Pompeii and a hike up the volcano. This semester weekend School trips include Venice and one with several cities around Tuscany central Italy.
He spent fall break( week off in October) in Greece, Santorini and Mykonos, Spring Break last week in Dublin and Croatia, Kids also travel on weekends around Italy and Europe. He really enjoys Florence and spent many weekends exploring Florence and the area around it

There are many Study Center Youtube videos here are a few on the different locations in Europe to give you a feel for the locations

Just want to point out any student accepted for fall or spring semester can apply to Study Abroad their first year and OOS can get InState tuition after completing their First Year Abroad

Has anyone been admitted who applied after the priority Nov 1 deadline? My S22 (who has been admitted) has a friend waiting to hear (I believe he applied in January). Thanks in advance.
