FSU-FAMU College of Engineering Comments/Concerns

Hello, I was accepted to FSU as undecided and I have been trying to do some research on FSU-FAMU’s Engineering College for environmental engineering. All the forums I have found about this are atleast 2 - 10 years old so I was wondering how reputable is it?
How well are the professors with teaching and providing tutoring during their office hours? How well have they been with connecting students with jobs post graduation. What path do most students take post-bach: academic or workforce?

Hi, GoldenGirl26

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has just moved up an unprecedented 37 points in the US News and World Report rankings released for 2021. The college has been on a powerfully upward trajectory for the last 4 years following the hiring of Dean J. Murray Gibson. US News and World Report has struggled with correctly reporting the statistics from the only college in the world that is a partnership between a research one university and an historically black university (HBCU). If one searches this forum, one sees much of the confusion reflected in the questions posed and answers posted. In the last four years, the college has cleared up some of the identity questions and the rankings have begun to show the strengths of the school.

To answer your questions:
Recent surveys of students indicate a general feeling that most professors are committed to student success. Peer-to-peer tutoring is encouraged and a new mentorship program was implemented in the last year or two. Fall and Spring semesters there are job fairs with over 100 employers coming to the engineering campus. Both universities have job placement offices. A majority of students who graduate with a bachelor’s degree move into the workforce.
