FSU Honors College/Dorm question

I recently applied at FSU. I received a 21 on the ACT, but I have really high grades about a 3.6 GPA. My GPA increased from freshman to junior year. I'm also involved in a lot of after school activities. I really want to get into Landis Hall and the honors college, but I'm afraid my ACT score will discourage them. Do I still have a chance to be accepted into the honors college? If not can I apply? Listed below is my college resume.

Academic Awards/Achievements: National Honor Society, High Honors, Tech Award, 3.6 GPA (not weighted)

The average student who was offered a spot in the FSU honors college had a 4.2 weighted GPA, a 30 ACT or a 1970 SAT. I think you need to raise your ACT score to have a shot at it. Your GPA might be ok but I’m not sure what it comes out to when it’s weighted.

The GPA where I’m from is out of 4. Also how much of an impact does the essay have when you write the application?

Notice the other poster said the 4.2 was weighted. A weighted GPA can go over 4.0 and occurs when a student takes honors and AP classes. Your GPA should be closer to a 3.8 but that is not the big issue. Your ACT is way too low right now, try getting it up to at least a 27 or 28.
