FSU honors or UF Innovation Academy

I already posted a similar thread in the UF forum, I just want to get as much feedback as possible and see what the FSU forum thinks.

I was admitted into both FSU honors and the innovation academy at UF but I can't decide which is the better choice. I have no idea what I want to major in.
I've visited both campus and while FSU is gorgeous, I'd be happy staying in either campus. At this point I'm leaning toward FSU but I'm curious to see what you guys think.

I should also mention that all of my friends are going to UF and if I go there I'll be staying in an apartment with friends starting in fall(online classes until spring). If I go to FSU I'll be staying in the honors dorm but won't know anyone there. My biggest fear of both places is fitting into the social life. What are UF and FSU people like? I enjoy partying but also take my academics very seriously and enjoy intellectual pursuits (sorry if this sounds cocky). I think I'll fit into UF but what about FSU( I don't mean to offend anyone,I just want to know how true the FSU stereotype is).
Thanks in advance for your responses :)

You say you’re going to be staying in the Honors dorm at FSU… Have you already applied for Housing at FSU? If not, you aren’t going to be staying in that dorm. I can say with 99.999999999% confidence that the number of people that have applied to live in the Honors buildings outnumbers the number of spots.

I don’t get what you mean by the “FSU stereotype” though. That everyone parties or something? That’s a stereotype at pretty much every college. If you want to party, you can find that. If you don’t want to, you can find that, too.

You only have a week to inform FSU of your decision. At this point, you honestly will just need to make a gut decision about what you think is going to be better for you. If you don’t know what to study, I don’t think that taking online classes at UF will be the best choice to help you make a decision, unfortunately.

Yeah I already applied for housing and have a priority number in the 4000’s. I do fear that I won’t get into the honors dorm but I’m can live in one of the other dorms. I called them up just to be sure and they said I have a good chance of getting into the honors dorm.

And I should have elaborated on the “stereotype”. I realize that everyone parties in college, and I have nothing against that. The FSU stereotype that I’ve been exposed to is that the people are mainly focused on partying and don’t do much academically. If this is true then that means easier competition for me but less people with the same mindset as me.

Again this is just what I’ve heard(I live in an area full of gator fans)and I honestly don’t think it’s true, but I want to see what you guys have to say about the truth of this stereotype.

I’d suggest you look up “top party” schools yourself. You’ll find many lists and on nearly every one of them UF will be ranked as a bigger party school than FSU. The whole concept is stupid though and doesn’t mean anything. It’s just something people use to bash other schools. According to the “stereotype” FAU doesn’t party much, therefore FAU is the best school in the state. Right?

Take Honors and the money.

UF is just as much as a party school as FSU. And, you could say the same about UCF, and probably USF, too.

UF enrollees typically have the higher SAT scores, but it’s not like we are comparing Stanford to BFE State Commuter College. The slightly less uber-competitive atmosphere at FSU might actually suit your personality type.

Honestly, if you want a low-key atmosphere, along with decent academics, go to a place like New College. All large state schools have an unavoidable “party-school” aspect.

I choose FSU over Innovation without being in Honors. I didn’t like the concept of IA or how the HIDE that you can ONLY do classed in springs and summer semester. It’s really hard information to find on the website. Classes become hard to find in your upper years, and spring/summer might not have the class your looking for, even with IA major chart. I didn’t want to start college in Jan. 2014 either. It depends on you. I picked FSU since I love their campus ,education standard, and smaller student life. However, UF tends to give you a better financial aid package, if it comes down to money. Both are good schools. Good Luck!

PS. Don’t do innovation if you haven’t narrowed down your major into type of majors they offer.
