Does anyone know if FSU Honors College (admission through application) accepts people on a rolling basis as they get the applications sent in? Because they say that you’ll know whether you’re in or not NO LATER than 5 PM April 17, 2015. Does that mean that everyone knows at their own time whether they are in or not? Please write if you have any other info on FSU’s honor college and if it’s difficult, beneficial, etc… Thanks!
I think they would wait until they have all the applications which is march 27th, the only reason i say that is cause they’d probably want to see the whole application pool before they admit anybody… thats just a guess though, good luck
Thanks for the feedback!
I got an email telling me I was invited March 25. Super happy! Seems to be like a rolling admission type since the deadline to turn the lateral admission packet is the 27th.
We had to wait until the last day to get my son’s guidance counsellor’s recommendation. Frustrating, but that’s not FSU’s fault. What were your stats aaarpb?
SAT: 2020
ACT: 29
Over 500 service hours
4.8 weighted GPA
My son got an email inviting him to Honors on the 25th as well. He didn’t apply. He has decided to go to UF though.
Congratulations Minnie. UF honors is extremely competitive
Thanks Newtownunit. Although my son is actually an odd one that doesn’t want to participate in honors program. He is in 7 APs right now, and it’s been an exhausting year for him. I think it’s going to make him very cautious about overloading himself in the future.
Has anyone else heard back from them yet? I still haven’t heard either way
Still haven’t heard back Sent my app in 3 days before the deadline.
At preview day they seemed to indicate that the petition process this year was by far the largest and most difficult. But then, I don’t know if they say that every year.
My son applied EA and was invited. He is NMF and FSU made him an offer he can’t refuse so he’s in.
I don’t know what NMF means. So, did he submit a petition and just hear, or was this an invite from his EA?
Does anyone know how we will be notified - email, letter, phone call?
Seems like it’s all been email.
@newtownunit NMF = National Merit Finalist. He didn’t apply to honors, they invited him. But that’s a different situation with it being EA, etc.
Thanks for the clarification.
Unless we’re the only ones that haven’t heard one way or the other, looks like they’re going to take it to the last day, tomorrow. My son has already accepted as FSU, and as an OOS we were incredibly impressed by the presentation about the extra steps they take with the burgeoning OOS population at FSU during Preview Day on 4/3. I was really surprised to learn that in a campus of nearly 40,000, the OOS undergraduate population is about 2600. The best presentation was from the lead counselor in the Life Coaching program that they have undertaken for OOS.
Your not alone, I as well am still waiting. I called earlier this week and they said they would be no later than the end of the business day tomorrow, I was hoping that alluded to a bit earlier this week but oh well–wishful thinking. Regardless, good luck to everyone who will be finding out tomorrow I wish you all the best.
