Fsu honors

@janiemiranda I can’t find any numbers on this either. Is the 400 number that you recall referring to freshmen only?

@amsunshine It might be. I looked again and can’t see where I found that information. I might be totally wrong about that number so please disregard. If I do happen across the info again I will be sure to post it here.

Is there an additional scholarship if admitted to Honor college?

No additional scholarship unless chosen for Presidential Scholars which involves an interview process.

Does anyone know when we are expected to hear about admission to the honor program? Does anyone have information about the process or stats from prior years (other than what is on the website)? Thanks

I don’t know when but we’re anxiously waiting. Logged into the website and the status of the application says stage 2 review. We never received any emails or anything/

What does stage 2 review mean??

@jloheac My guess would be that, given the scholars weekend is April 3-4, they will probably notify everyone by March 3, to give about a month for finalists to arrange for travel. Only an educated guess, however.

University of Florida decisions come out this Friday and my bet is that many of the high stats kids applying for Honors college at FSU also have applications in at UF. I would think it would be in FSU’s best interests to get those Honor’s College invites out as soon as possible. What do you guys think? I’m hoping not much later than March 3 like @amsunshine suggested.

Good point! It would be very strategic of FSU to release the decisions on the 27th or even the morning of the 28th, to beat UF to the punch.

@amsunshine 27th or 28th sounds good! :slight_smile:

Looks like last year Honors decisions came out March 5. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university/2120381-fsu-class-of-2023-p5.html

We are hoping for an earlier date, too!

While we’d all like it to be earlier, realistically I think the earliest they will come out is March 6th. They need to not only decide who gets into Honors but also pick the Presidential Scholar finalists who will be invited to the on campus interviews, as when you get your Honors decision it also has the Presidential Scholar decision with it as well.

If it comes out on a Tuesday again then it might be March 3rd as March 5th was a Tuesday last year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for March 3rd

However, decisions have been released on a Tuesday for the past two years, which would fall on March 3 this year. March 6 seems a little late considering the April 3-4 date for scholars weekend. But, honestly, it’s anyone’s guess. It’s fun to hope for an earlier date though.

eta: @janiemiranda beat me to it.

Agreed, let’s hope for March 3rd!! It does look like the first Tuesday in March is the common date for the past 2 years.

Lol - I saw a flurry of posts on this thread and got my hopes up that decisions were out! I am going to guess next Tuesday so the Presidential Scholar invitees can make travel arrangements. I do not expect S20 to receive a Presidential invite but we are definitely hoping to hear the honors decision soon!

My daughter’s status says the same. I wonder how many stages of review there are… Maybe other people here can check to see if all applications are similar or whether some say stage 1 or stage 3… curious.

My daughter said hers was at stage 2

My S just checked and his is also at Stage 2. He said there is also a list of names and S has cleared their ranking. (?) I have no idea what this means, but there are nine names, and one of the names is listed twice. Sounds good?
