Stage 2 here as well.
@ShrimpBurrito Sounds the same as what my daughter told me she has.
Stage 2 here too. Maybe everyone is at Stage 2?
@amsunshine
Where do you check the status for honors application?
I found it- does anyone have âactivity logâ under the application with various names?
@alogan Yes, if you scroll up some of us were talking about the names.
D20 has a list with her name followed by the words âclearedâ followed by a nameâs ârankingâ . This is listed ten times with a different name in each one.
same- wonder what it means??
It looks like it is the honors students/application review team reviewing the applications and signing off as they do so.
Are you seeing the Stage 2 designation on the MyFSU Portal or on the Application Status Check page?
@brink3 Do you think they are really having ten people sign off on a studentâs credentials? Hopefully it is that, my D20 saw the list and said please tell me those arenât other students because that would be really messed up.
@MBNC1755 Ten file readers really does seem like a lot. Someone just asked about application review on the UGA admissions blog and the adcom said they have two file readers for each application. This is for FSU Honors, so of course itâs different, but they already do a lot of weeding out by inviting students who have been accepted and have received an academic scholarship, so I donât really see why ten readers would be necessary. This might be a mystery that will forever be unsolved.
Found it. Itâs unusual they would publish the updates, by reviewer, for the applicant to see. Maybe theyâre providing a transparent process for the student to keep them updated. Whatever the reasons, this is a very interesting process.
I believe this is how UF honors evaluates honors applicants as well. It is a student led process.
Because I am nosy, I googled a couple of names and thus far seems like staff are doing the reviews. Only looked up 4 of the 12 names that reviewed my S20.
That will make D20 feel much better! I wonder why some students have a different number of reviewers? I have seen mentions as low as 9 and as high as 12 for your son.
I donât think it is significant. I could see NMFâs being reviewed by fewer since they are basically auto-admit to honors. For all I know, my son was on the edge of being admitted and they wanted more people to review before they cut him. I have learned not to read too much into any of this stuff anymore.
@mountainmomof3 - I hope more isnât bad, my D has more reviewers as wellâŠ
@Searching2020 - I really donât know. I was just making the point that who knows? It isnât worth the energy to worry. The students should hear soon (hopefully!!)
I am happy it is the staff doing the reviews because one of S20âs essays was highly personal. But it probably wouldnât matter to S20 since he says he has used the story for background in Speech and Debate events.
I would appreciate hearing stats of those admitted/not admitted to honorsâŠlooking at options for current jr. to see if she would be close to honors at a place like FSU. Thank you and good luck to all.
