Fsu honors

Has anyone else been accepted into the honors program online AND (confusingly) received an email stating not accepted? This is what we are dealing with. Please help.

@FLcollegebound Thanks for the info. I will tell my D20 to go ahead and click on it tomorrowā€¦cant wait till we have all the decisions so we can make a decision too! Thanks againā€¦

@FSU What Up! One other person on this forum had the same experience. They called the Honors office and it said the e-mail was correct and the portal was incorrect. You should probably call the honors office too.

We had the exact same feelings! We visited on an open day last Easter, and walked away feeling like it was a ā€˜businessā€™ rather than a ā€˜schoolā€™. It didnā€™t feel inviting or friendly at all. Compared with FSU, where everyone we interacted with was high energy and super excited about the school, it was a no-brainer not to apply to UF. FSU was our first choice!

@mountainmomof3 - my D20 had the same issue: opened the fluid review portal first and saw the Congratulations then saw the email which said no. Called the Honors Program and it was a no. Disappointed is an understatement. Iā€™m really surprised D20 didnā€™t get in but I suppose itā€™s one of those ā€œitā€™s just not meant to beā€ situations.

My daughter was accepted to the honors program, and was invited to interview for the Presidential Scholarship. She was hoping just to get into honors, and the presidential scholarship wasnā€™t even on our radar. She is very excited though.

Does anyone know the final breakdown of how many freshman were admitted to honors out of how many applicants?

My daughter was very excited to be named a Presidential Scholar Finalist. Even before she was named a finalist or was even accepted into the Honors program, she was impressed with FSU. Out of all the schools sheā€™s applied to, FSUā€™s admission and honors departments have probably done the best at making her feel like they would really value having her as a student.

Here with a late (and partial) answer: in a recent email, the honors director told us that around 400 students are accepted to honors. Not sure how many apply, but thatā€™s roughly 5% of the total incoming freshman class, so itā€™s pretty selective. Apparently the school made a conscious decision a couple years ago to make acceptance more selective:
ā€œThe university also is making student enrollment in the Honors Program more selective in order to enhance services and better serve students. It also has reduced class size from about 25 students to 19.ā€

Hi! Does anybody know if my daughter can request to be considered to apply for the Honors program after May 1st?

@valka07 there was only about a two week window to apply for honors in February. I would imagine they stopped taking applications after that, but the best way to get your answer for sure would be to email them.

Thank you. My daughter got accepted on April 2nd with OOS waiver. I will email them to see if she has a chance.

For an out of state student, what is the financial difference between the National Merit Finalist/Benacquisto Scholarship and the Presidential Scholars Program? I understand there are other program benefits/opportunities for Presidential Scholars not available to everyone in the Honors Program, but Iā€™m having difficulty discerning the scholarship amount differences? Do they both cover full Cost of Attendance, but Presidential Scholars also receive additional money towards enrichment opportunities like Study Abroad programs? Thanks

@ClassOf21inIowa, Presidential Scholars also get a $2400 annual stipend that stacks on top of the Benacquisto award, and about $12,000 in summer enrichment money. The summer money can be used on all kinds of things.
