FSU Housing login

Thanks for the updates and for giving us some hope. Truly disappointing that these kids won’t have good housing numbers due to this mess.

We are still trying. We have two computers and two iPads going. Same error message on all of them, if we get to the log in page. I have wasted 2 1/2 hours so far and I am not happy. I can’t believe they don’t have the servers ready for this.

2 1/2 hours later, number 1181.

I was getting the same error message about “Spring 2014” applicants and my son was admitted to the Honors College for Fall 2014. Finally got in and got #759. Took some time though. I did email housing and they got back to me right away but with a bogus message that they will respond to your request as soon as possible. My son will probably be attending classes there before that happens. LOL So I guess 759 is pretty good. I’m feeling better. Good luck to you who are still trying to get in. You would think that they would have a larger server for this. It’s not the first year that people do this. It’s a recurring event. And this is college? Scares me a bit.

Hey guys-- when you navigate through, you have to stay patient for each step-- including the login. For each step, my screen seemed to be frozen for as long as four minutes-- eventually, the required information would come on the screen. Each step of the contract went like this as well. Just stay patient and be sure that your computer is not frozen, but simply waiting for the next spot in line.

gemini18 - same, Son is going Honors so picked Landis and Gilchrist. His best friend didn’t get Honors, so now have to decide if he wants to switch to a non-honors dorm, or find another roommate. Plus not sure how high of a number his friend got, assuming he got one yet. Makes it hard to plan.

Also, I"m not a computer wiz, but is there a way to disable automatic time-out while loading web pages? If so, if you are having trouble logging in, perhaps that can help. My daughter’s number is 60 and she wants Wildwood so she can be near the fitness center.

Finally able to get in at 11:37am and finished at 11:59 with number 1355. Not happy as kid is in Honors and was hoping for a low number to get into Landis. Trying not to let my 3 hours of frustration taint my kid’s experience as he is really excited about the school. However, there is no excuse for them not to be ready for this. Good luck to all who are still trying.

ceevee,
my son is honors too and we’re at 1039, but you have to remember honors has priority for Landis and Gilchrist, so any non honors selecting those will be bumped. I spoke with housing a week or so ago and they didn’t think it was difficult to get honors kids into Landis because of that.

Thanks oldbull2. Your information makes me feel much better about this morning’s experience and my son’s number!

damomo - same choices for my son, Landis and Gilchrist are top choices. Same thing, too with friend who didn’t get into Honors. You can’t request roommate until March 4th anyway. Don’t know what that would mean for his friend? Does a non-honors roommate jump up the line if requested by an honors student? Don’t know. Time will tell.

my understanding from reading about roommates on the site is the roommates get dropped to the lower of the 2s selection rank ie the honors student may be bumping himself out of honors if he friend is lower

That is what I read too - whoever has the worst number for roommates is the number that is used. And I don’t believe a non-honors can room in the honors dorm. Maybe in the odd case it didn’t fill up, but that would be risky and probably not happen. So he either needs to find a roommate or only pick the non-honor dorms.

Yea, my son probably will just stay with the Landis/Gilchrist. I read that, too. I actually wrote it down in my notes about the roommate info. Just glad he got the number he got with all the problems today. I read on their FB page that some people have YET to go through the process. Crazy.
