FSU or UF?

Hey guys!

I’m really really conflicted on my college selection. So far i’ve narrowed it down to two state schools, FSU and UF.

For basic Info, I’m a white male hoping to double major in Economics and Philosophy, and I hope to go to a top law school after undergraduate. I have a 33 ACT and 4.45 weighted GPA.

With FSU, I’ve been accepted to the Service Scholars Program (2,400 dollar scholarship and great opportunity to do service during my time there). I’m hopeful about getting into the FSU Legal honors program (Should look good for law school), have been accepted into the honors program, and will also be applying to do undergraduate research. I also received a 2,400 per year scholarship, and a 1800 dollar grant.

For UF, I’ve been accepted to the fall term. I received no grants/loans. However, I understand it is a higher ranked school, and I have a lot of good friends who will be attending there. I have applied to the honors program, and will hopefully try to do research here as well.

At this point, i’m trying to balance picking a school that has better programs/money for me and one that’s better ranked.

If my end goal is a top law school, what helps get me there better?

Thanks so much.

FSU is at the state capital which could provide internship opportunities.

Law schools will care much more about your LSAT and your GPA than they will about rankings. Sounds like FSU might be a better fit for you AND save you lots of money for law school.

^ yup. Law schools couldn’t care less about the school you went to/your major. Service scholars is a huge opportunity - only about 12 kids get accepted each year I believe. The capital is invaluable. I have an internship there currently (which looks great) and could not do that & take 5 classes if I went anywhere other than FSU

Did you visit the two schools? Do you have a preference? Both schools can get you where you wan to go.

Students do end up loving both schools.
UF is higher ranked and with your friends going there I would lean towards UF
