FSU required SAT subscores

Hi,
so I was reading on FSU’s website that 500’s are required in every subsection for admission. Will this standard hold true regardless of other factors? My best SAT was a 1830 total: CR 770, WR 590, M 470, and my GPA is a 3.8 UW and a 4.1 Weighted. After Senior year I will have taken 9 AP’s. Could my abysmal math score bar me from being admitted at all? I was hoping to apply for the fall of 2016 but now I’m concerned they won’t even accept my application. There’s no way I can retake the SAT before the early admissions deadline, and my ACT scores are still pending!

Check with admissions, but I think they will accept the Oct (3rd) SAT test scores for the Oct application (I know they will accept the January SAT test scores for the January application).

That’s certainly an option, but if it won’t work would you say there’s a decent chance they’d admit me for the fall, in lieu of my other qualifications?

I don’t know, it’s best to check with admissions to see if that 500 is a hard cutoff. You also have the option of applying in January. That would give you time to take the test a few times.

Good Luck!

Thanks!

Did you get above a 500 for Math on either attempt? Maybe you can superscore?

Right. They do superscore, but none of my previous attempts will give me a 500. The highest was the 470.

Can you throw a football?

I know that some people get in below the cutoff, but I suspect that this is mostly athletes, or other talented individuals who have some kind of unique hook that isn’t reflected in their grades.

Ha, I wish.
So it is a hard cutoff point then? I wasn’t sure if they might overlook it given my other qualifications, or if it was meant as a mild deterrent rather than a stringent rule.

The only people who know the definite answer to that are Admissions:
