FSU Sophmore Transfer

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering about my chances for being accepted to FSU for the fall or possibly the summer semester of 2014. I'm currently a first semester freshman baseball player at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. I'm taking 15 credits this semester and 15 next semester, and they are all transferable, so if I were to go to FSU, I would have 30 credits. In high school i had a 3.2 GPA with a 1720 SAT score(1150 math/reading). As of right now I have a 3.6 in the first semester and I'm hoping to get it around a 4.0 before the semester is over. Which semester would I have the best chance to be accepted into? Do I have a chance at all or should I be looking at other places to transfer as well? Thanks!

Keep in mind that as a sophomore transfer, you have to meet all of the requirements for both freshman and transfer students.

For transfer students, that’s pretty easy. Just be on track for your intended major at FSU, and have at least a 3.0.

For the freshman side, it’s tougher. You basically would have to meet the requirements to be admitted as a freshman applicant, which are based on not just SAT and GPA but course rigor. If your 3.2 GPA was in rigorous course work it’s more impressive than if it was in lower difficulty classes. Course rigor and GPA are more important to FSU than your test scores.

As for which semester to pick, it may depend on your major. Some majors will only offer specific classes one semester per year, so if you pick a semester to apply for you will want to make it one that will have classes that you can take towards your major. Summer is generally the easiest semester to gain acceptance for, but that does not necessarily mean you will want to apply for that semester.
