FSU vs UF Psychology

<p>Deciding between FSU and UF for Fall 2012 as an undergraduate student. </p>

<p>I will already have my AA, so I'm going in as a Junior..therefore, not concerned with which has better education as it pertains to core academic classes.</p>

<p>My major is developmental psychology. Any suggestions as to which has a better program? </p>

<p>All advice from current or past students and parents is welcome PLEASE!</p>

<p>Will credits transfer equally well to the two institutions? That is, will you actually get core curriculum credit or just elective credit?</p>

<p>FSU has this area of study to the PhD:

The present-day Department of Psychology at Florida State University is organized into five doctoral programs for graduate education in psychology that reflect the mainstream emphases in the field. The programs are in Clinical Psychology (the study of determinants of pathological behavior in children and adults with emphasis on biological, cognitive and environmental factors), Cognitive Psychology (the study of how humans process complex information received by the senses), Developmental Psychology <a href=“the%20study%20of%20physical,%20cognitive%20and%20social%20change%20throughout%20the%20life%20span”>I</a>*, Neuroscience (the study of the biological bases of behavior), and Social Psychology (the study of how we think about, influence, and relate to one another). The department also offers an applied Master’s Degree in Psychology with a Specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Panama City Campus.

Doctoral areas of specialization include the teaching and research areas of developmental, behavior analysis, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and counseling psychology.

<p>Have you visited each campus? Which program do you like better?</p>

<p>Yes, I’ll get core credit from both institutions. All of the classes I’ve taken to earn my AA will transfer.</p>

<p>I have taken tours of both campuses. However, UF’s tour did not show a part of campus that appealed to me very much. I absolutely loved FSU’s campus…very homey and small. During both visits, however, I did not get a chance to stop into the departments of psychology/ psych buildings to get a feel for those So I have no idea which program I would prefer…</p>
