FSU vs UF vs UCF?

I know this question has been asked many times, but I need closure. I have the grades and scores for FSU, UF, and UCF. I am planning on majoring in law or political science. I honestly have no idea which school I should apply to. If I had to apply Early Decision to one, which one should it be? My friends are all going to UCF. I know it's not the best idea to go to wherever your friends go, but these people are really good friends of mine. I know UCF is ranked below both of the other schools, but does undergrad school ranking matter all that much? I'm planning on going to law school in the future.

If you don’t know which one you want to go to yet don’t apply early decision

I agree with barrk, you should never apply ED unless you are SURE you want to go there without hesitation.

With that said, I have done a lot of research on all of these universities. Chose to apply to UF and FSU Early Action. Chose NOT to apply to UCF after visiting because I couldn’t handle the size (about 60000 kids, couldn’t handle it).

-It is generally agreed that UF is superior in academics, then FSU, then UCF. It is sometimes debated though that FSU thrives in liberal arts though, so maybe political science would be better at FSU (if that is considered a liberal art-type major?) Don’t actually know and can’t say.

-It is also debated that FSU has better dorms than the other two from what I’ve heard.

-As I said, UF and FSU are only about 32000 while UCF is about 60000. I couldn’t deal with that many students because I would feel DEFINITELY like a number. The average class size at UCF is about 30 I think, while UF and FSU are like 20’s (may seem like a small difference, but I think its actually big).

Campus life I do not know much about comparing the three, but I feel like they wouldn’t be too different from each other. Only thing I’ve heard is that there are some really snobby UF kids who think they’re perfect, and FSU was more personal and made people feel special on visits. I would recommend visiting to really get the feel of them.

All in all, I would cut UCF off. My advice would to never choose a college for friends, because truthfully, its not worth it to yourself in my opinion. If you are even considering UF, there is a good chance you probably have the stats to get in there or FSU which I think are BOTH steps up from UCF… Its ultimately your choice though, so good luck.

Thanks!
Does UF and FSU even have Early Action? Is it something I have to click on the application itself or do I just have to apply early? I’ll have everything done before Nov.1st.

Well UF doesn’t have EA. It only accepts until Nov.1 (so you might want to get started) and then you apply for housing ASAP after that… On the other hand though, FSU does have EA, but you kinda missed the deadline because it’s due tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue: RD deadline is January 14th, 2013; you’ll get a decision on March 20th.

College- Florida Community College

GPA- 3.72(will raise after spring 13 and summer 13)
A.A- Summer 2013

Academic accomplishments- 1)honors society 2) member of honors college

Intended major at university- Pre-Law/Business Administration

Ethnicity- Latino

How much scholarship money does each school offer? And is my GPA and other academic achievements good enough for a high scholarship?

Seems like you know a lot about the process and schools Cens10? How do my chances appear to you guys?

Well I couldn’t tell you your chances about transfers, I’m just a senior  But I honestly think the aid isn’t much different at the schools by more than a few thousand, but I also think they don’t give that much aid because they’re already cheap. I do know though that UCF collegeboard said the average indebtness at $20,624. FSU was unlisted but I’ve seen in other places that it was in the lower 20k’s. Collegeboard also said UF graudates had the lowest indebtedness at graduation with the average at $16,841.
