Full Cost of NYU?

THe way I see it for the 2010 freshman

Tuition $41,000 +/-

average Room $11,000 range $6700-$15,000+

Board $4,000

total $56,000

Add books, expenses $2,000

58,000

How much do you think they will raise this for fall 2011 freshman.

Generally, they increase 3-5% each year on total cost (tuition and fees).

Tuition will rise by approximately less than 5%. Housing and meal plan charges probably will not rise again for another three years or so, they just jumped in 2008 I believe.

No. there appears to be an annual housing (and probably meal plan) fee increase annually. There is no such thing as frozen fees for colleges. Even GW’s Tuition Stabilization Plan, I think that is the name, only covers tuition rates, not annual increases in room and board. Look at these comparisons:

1) 2009-2010

2) 2010-2011

http://www.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu/resLifeHousServ/documents/NYU029_housing-rates0b.pdf

Your figures are a bit low. Housing is more and so is board. $2000 for a year of books and expenses is very low, too.

Personally, I would up the total by at least $3,000 if you want to be realistic. D is a junior. Housing is a minimum of $11,050 for upper classman on campus…off campus depends on how much you want to sacrifice in terms of distance from campus, etc.

I’ll agree with the statement that on-campus upperclassman housing stings. Difference of $3,000 between freshman and sophomore year. >__<

cost of living is high too.

according to my estimated financial aid package, the total cost is $59000. But, I know it varies because depending on your dorm and # of roomates, housing can cost between like 11 and 14 grand or something like that.

It’s lowest in your freshman year. If you end up in something larger than a double, you may wind up with <$10k housing charges.
