Someone at church told my DW that their S was offered a full ride plus monthly stipend to attend OSU as a undergraduate. He turned it down and attending a top 10 school with a 1/2 ride.

I was always under the impression that OSU gives out 10 full ride per year as the top scholorship. A stipend to an under is news to me.

Could any one give me information related to such program? How much stipend could a student get per month?

I think you are talking about the Joyce Scholarship. It is indeed a full ride plus monthly stiped scholarship, although I'm not sure how much the stipend is worth. It's probably enough to cover books and other related expenses. Every year, a very (and I mean very!) small number of these scholarships are given to students wanting to attend OSU or Notre Dame. I know that for OSU, there is an application that is due by Dec. 1 or somewhere around that date. Keep in mind that the scholarship app. is separate from the school's actual application and is usually due well before general OSU application deadlines. Also, OSU offers 2 types of this Joyce scholarship - I believe one is both merit and need-based and the other is simply merit. Note that these scholarships don't come from the school itself but, I believe, from an outside source.

Information about these scholarships are hard to come by b/c they are very lucrative and the competition is quiite fierce. My advice to you would be to contact your high school guidance counselor no later than October to make sure you an get an application from her office (last year, the Joyce app. could not be found online). Apply early and good luck!

The Glenna R. Joyce scholarship goes to students attending Ohio State University or Notre Dame and covers all expenses but is only available to residents of Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, or Union county.
