I am interested in transferring to Cal State Fullerton since it seems like it has a wide range of Communication major concentrations (Advertising, Entertainment Studies, Journalism), and also offers a minor in each. Is the Communications department at Fullerton a good one? I want to go to UCLA, but it seems like transferring with my 3.5-3.6 GPA is a bit of a stretch. I need to figure out which school I want to pursue quickly in order to take the proper prerequisite courses.

From what I gather Fullerton has a great Communication major. If I were you I would try USC as well. I have about the same GPA as you and I got into Fullerton (Entertainment Management) and USC Marshall School of Business. USC reviews more holistically so if you do some passionate essays you will most likely get in. I also wouldn’t rule out UCLA either.

I’m ruling out UCLA because I’ve taken three semesters of Community College (Fall, Spring, Summer), and UCLA requires you to have 4 pre req courses to be completed by the Fall semester prior to transfer, and require a 3.5 gpa at time of application to even be considered. I’m really considering Fullerton, and I will check out USC.
