Hi, I'm thinking about starting a fundraiser project with some of my friends in order to raise money for an orphanage or some other kind of organization. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to begin the fundraising process and what activities I should pursue in order to make the fundraiser a success. Thanks!

Yard sales are good, especially when you are asking people to donate items. Sometimes they'll donate cash, which is better. :D Chili suppers are also popular when you say there's entertainment. Ask local restaurants to donate a pot of chili or brownies or something. You don't want to pay for anything! You really need to publicize your fundraiser (fliers, newspaper, posters, school announcements). Oh, and if you need a building to hold it, tell the owners it's for a good cause, and they'll usually let you hold it there for free. Hope that helps.

thanks for the tips. Did you have any successful fundraising story that you'll be willing to share with me?

Yes, actually. In one of my clubs, we raise money through a yardsale to help sponsor a child in Central America every year. We usually get teachers to donate clothes and furniture, and we hold it in front of the school. We also raised money to donate to Dollars for Darfur by just walking around the cafeteria for change. We raised a little over $800 (pretty good for quarters and nickels).

Another I "helped" raise money for (with TONS of help from motivated parents) was to help pay for a trip to Germany for me and six other students (obviously we couldn't actually raise $10,000 for tickets). We did the previously mentioned chili supper (we got EVERYTHING donated and it was pretty successful) and we held a yardsale (again, EVERYTHING donated).

wow, that sounds really nice. Thanks again for the tips :)

You're welcome. Good luck with yours! :)

carwashh would be successful
