Funniest Rejection Ever

Yes, you read that right. There is actually a very funny rejection that my S encountered today.

Okay, now maybe this was funny in a perverse way that only I can appreciate...but this actually happened:

He logs in to the web site for the school (which shall go unnamed).

He navigates through the Admission Director's page.

Clicks on the link to the decision.

A rejection letter pops up.

:>(

And then, at the bottom, there's a button that says "continue."

:>?

Now, normally, one would "X" out of that web page or hit "Back" until they returned to CC...but what about that button? Will Vanna White show him the consolation prize? Is there something else he needs to know? Is he getting a refund of his application fee? Maybe this is the way to the wait list. Or better still, perhaps it's a valuable coin or power-up button we can use in future battles against the warlords of admissions!

Well, how can you NOT click on that button?

So...my son clicks. And...

...it redirects him to a farewell page that takes him out of the school's web site. Or, in not so many words, the message he took from that:

"SEE YA! WOULDN'T WANNA BE YA!"

(All of which goes to prove the point that sometimes schools do you a big favor by not accepting you!)

Any luck D'yer?

It's a mixed bag. This is his show, though. He's sharing the news as he sees fit, so I'm not going to step on his toes. That story, though, was just too good not to share, so I asked him permission to post that story. We've had a few laughs today about that one. OMG. How rude can you get?

I'm thinking that if you get accepted, they hotlink you to Orbitz to book your revisit. Or maybe to CitiBank's Home Finance offices. Maybe they link you to a live chat with the Dean of Admissions. The only thing that was missing for the rejection notifications was a boot imprint...as the door did hit us as we left the site.

That is funny, though really kind of mean.

That's so sad. I'm sorry about that, but I'm glad he took it well. (with humor)
