Funny Admissions Stories

Did any of you have a funny experience when you found out where you got into college?
Like...

I told my mom that I wanted to check on my first choice school online, and with her on a different floor of the house. When I got in, I shrieked. Hearing me, she shrieked in response, and I ran up the stairs. Our house has a sort of circular set up, so we spent a good twenty seconds going the wrong way trying to find each other from the shrieks. When we finally found each other we hugged, and kept screaming, and the dog wanted to get in on the action, so she sat down next to us and just HOWLED. Then my dad got home, and his expression when he opened the front door to our scene was priceless.

buuuuuuuump

I got into my first choice too. I just went out of control for a little while and started blasting Eric Prydz "Call on Me". Later that night, my family and I went to a nice restaurant. It was a pretty sweet deal.

Uhm... not really funny but after not getting into NYU n Cornell, me and my friend went to a construction site to start a bonfire with all of their mailings.. it wouldn't burn for a while and then it turned into a huge burning flame good 30 minutes later. I was afraid someone was going to call the fire department though;; haha

Funny story, sort of...I was at symphony rehearsal when the decisions for my first choice were released on-line...unbeknownst to me, my dad had already checked when he called me at symphony and asked me if I wanted for him to find out, and I said no because I was sure that I didn't get in, and I wanted to be the one to look. Meanwhile, another kid from my symphony found out that he got in, and I felt super stupid because this guy is super amazing. So, I get home about four hours later after my mom has been pestering me for hours wanting for me to call dad to find out( cause she knows to) and by this time I'm super annoyed. So I get home and I watch tv for a few hours and then I reluctantly log on to computer and...yay I got in! SO I run downstairs shouting hysterically only to discover that my parents have known forever. How sad.

And my friend and I had this bet going where if I got into my first choice, but she didn't get into her first choice, then I had to eat pickled beets (don't ask), and she had to eat pickled beets if it happened the other way around, and we were both going to eat ice cream if we either both didn't get in or both got in. So I have to eat pickled beets cause she didn't get in, and I'm really annoyed. :-) It's cool though.

I returned home at about 2 am one firday after hanging out with my friends, where we were talking about college admissions. I found the sudden urge to check online that late......I swear I do not know why. When it worked I stopped breathing because I honestly couldn't believe it.

I walked into my mother's bedroom and woke her up. She hit me and screamed because she thought I was a stranger robbing the house (it's Mexico). It took about a minute for her to wake up and understand what I was telling her.

I had learned from fellow CC'ers on the BU message board the date that they would post their online decisions. They were to be released on a Monday but the exact time was still unknown. That weekend, I was a nervous mess. On Saturday morning, I woke up thinking it was Monday. On Sunday, I woke up sprinting to the computer "just in case." On Monday morning, I checked the Applicant Link twice before driving to school. During my third period study hall, I checked once more. Nothing. I began to worry that my behavior was bordering on paranoia... and so, I checked again. And I was accepted. It didn't hit me at first; like all of that waiting and anxiousness, and I'm thinking, "This is it. This is the moment." The excitement slowly built, and I suddenly found myself unable to control it. I wanted to tell someone or scream or something, but I suppose it's taboo to scream in the library. Instead, I tapped the shoulder of the person sitting next to me and whispered, "Hey! Guess what? I got into BU! I got into BU!" He gave me a blank stare for a good ten seconds and without a word, turned around to finish typing his paper.

Okay, so it's not HA-HA funny...

Haha that is a pretty funny story BettyRides.

lol it isnt funny but the night before my decisions came out i had 2 nitemares

1 i'm racing home from somewhere in my car to find out where i was admitted. i get into a wreck and wake up faaaaaaaaaar away in a hospital where no1 tells me if i got in . . .

2 i get up in the middle of the night, think "oh decisions are out" go into the hall, try to open the door of my study room w/ computer to check, when i realize the door is locked . . . i pull on it and it suddenly opens. i go inside and try to turn the lights on but they dont work. then, 15 seconds later they come on. i go to the computer and check (i dreamt i got into Upenn and got rejected from Duke). i think, well, Upenn's not bad, go to leave the room when the lights go out again . . . then the door opens and this . . . freakish ghost in a Duke JJ Redick jersey pops in and laughs . . .

then i wake up and find its 4 am

its kinda freaky though cuz i ended up being rejected from Upenn and got accepted at Duke . . . then on my way home from school i almost got into 3 car wrecks when i havent even come close to one for 4 months before . . . lol . . .

dude...don't die before you go to college.....haha jk
