So I've noticed that a lot of my friends who are applying to Colleges have changed their Facebook names to something funny/bizarre so AdComs won't find them on FB! What have you guys noticed?

Well, I noticed that last year as juniors so many people all of sudden started running for leadership positions in student government and whatnot. And I’m talking about people who’ve never made an effort to be part of the school community or to get great grades or to come to school sober…

Ummm… I haven’t noticed anything.

They’ve been preparing us for college admissions since birth.

I’ve noticed that one of my friends is being so hyper-competitive lately that I can’t hardly deal with him. I don’t know if it’s the college admissions, but it’s usually about academics and what others do that he deems unfair advantages.

Uhg… Tons of seniors at my school are suddenly taking AP courses. They have never taken an honors or AP course in their life and they think this year will make a huge difference. It’s annoying.

Lots of “That’ll look good on an application” or “I want that on my college application”. Hearing this from people that are officers on my debate team, and I am disappointed.

People have started using college visits as an excuse to get out of class. It’s annoying.

^ That’s a good idea. I might start using that.

I would use college visits as an excuse to get out of class except for the fact that all the colleges that visit are so bad that I’d rather suffer through class than 45 minutes on why ‘Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is more awesome than you would ever think.’ :/

Lol I’ve seen similar stuff, though not as such a high exposure since I’m a sophomore with junior/senior classes

I’m only a Sophomore, but I have heard “I’m going to do xxx because it’ll look good for college,” a bit.
