My daughter just got a letter today that she is a Furman Scholars ($5000 for rising senior to be used if she goes to Furman). Were any of you or your kids recipients of this? Thanks!

Hi, I just got this letter too. I’m pretty sure its $5,000 for each year at Furman (with the potential for more) but I might be wrong.

Hi, I’m a Furman Scholar for 2014. Would you mind sharing your/your daughter’s stats and whether or not you/she went to Furman and what kind of financial aid you received? Sorry for the long answer!

Sorry I’m just seeing this now-- I ended up going to Furman an absolutely love it! I actually ended up receiving a Mock Trial scholarship to Furman whose value was higher than the $5,000 from being a Furman Scholar so I never actually ended up using the scholarship. But it is definitely an awesome thing to have, and from my understanding it can go up in value! If you were able to qualify for that, and you are seriously considering Furman I would also recommend applying for the more prestigious scholarships (Duke, Lay to give some examples) that the school offers because they will cover much more of any need you may have! Let me know if you have any other questions! Oh, and I graduated a private high school with a 3.4, 4 APs and a 1920 SAT-- and a ton of activities.

My son will attend Top Mock at Furman this summer and is hopeful that he might be offered a mock trial scholarship for the fall of 2016. I’d love to hear more about how much can be offered as a MT scholarship. Are there any full rides? When do they usually make those offers? Thanks so much!!
