Furthur improvement on the ACT English section?

My score on the English section started out at about 40/75 -> an 18.
Though, I've been studying up grammar a lot over the week to the point where I can score 60/75 -> a 26.

My main problems are:
Transitions
Word Choice
Idioms/Preposition choice
Rhetoric (Identifying Main Idea and checking ALL of the possible answers)

I also seem to make slight simplistic errors (The end result of finishing with 5-10 extra minutes).

I'm going to take the ACT in April, but does anyone know how I can fix these previously stated problems? Should I memorize all the common transitions, idioms, ect? Or focus on a lot of rhetoric?

Well thanks common sense.
I got a 33 on an practice test.

Practice!!! I was making ~25 too! But I sat down and took practice tests over & over. I got up to a 29. It’s frustrating but keep at it! Practice makes perfect :)

Find patterns. Pay attention. READ A LOT! And most of all…

USE COMMON SENSE!

Source: I got a 35E w/ no prep whatsoever! I’m expecting a 36E next time. I will definitely be using my own advice. ;)

What are the best prep books to improve the ACT english score by a lot?

@alk635

Try Barron’s ACT 36. It helped me improve my English score from a 26 to a 32.

Thanks, is the Princeton Review english and reading workout any good?
