Future Pre-Med/Pre-Law: BU CGS or Temple Honors?

Hi!

I’m a high school student from CT and was hoping for some answers to a few questions I had; I applied to CAS at BU to study molecular biology but was admitted to CGS. I was also admitted to the Honors Program at Temple where I would major in biophysics. I’m trying to decide between the two programs, but have some questions about CGS. I’m not sure if I want to be a pediatric oncologist or human rights lawyer and would ideally like to study both biology and international relations (which may help your answers).

CGS: Are there pre-med students in CGS? I’m hesitant to consider the program given the late semester and delay in choosing a major, and know that CGS mainly focuses on humanities. If I were to transfer to CAS as a junior, could I double major or pick up a minor? Do you know anyone who has double majored after coming out of CGS?

My mom is really pushing for Temple because of the honors program but I really like the idea of a BU degree. They’re both around the same price so I’m stuck. I’ve heard some bad things about CGS regarding jokes and the overall lowered rigor compared to the other colleges at BU, which is why I’m hesitant to pursue it. Also, I read the CGS students have to overload on classes during the summer or retake certain courses if CGS courses don’t count towards their major (specifically math/science). But, Temple was my safety and I was never really excited to go there in the first place.

If you are in CGS, do you have any advice? Do you like the program? Is it a scam?

Thank you so much!!
