Future Tuition In state/out of state

Hey guys,

I was wondering if we go to a boarding school in another state as a boarding student, then apply to a college in that state... Would you get in state or out of state tuition? Just a question me and my friends came up with.

It would depend on the state. Usually, being in a state solely for the purpose of attending school would not be sufficient to give one residency status for purposes of in-state tuition. But there are exceptions . . .

Currently, a student who attends a California high school for three years and graduates from that school qualifies for in-state tuition (and, potentially, need-based aid, as well). Will that still be the case three or four years down the road? Well, that’s up to the voters of California to decide. No guarantees.
