Just FYI - UC Housing self-assignment time slots have been released. I guess you log in at the assigned time (or after) and can select your room… Good luck to everyone!
the sooner the better…things fill up fast
What is a good time slot? I got may 17th at 4:15pm.
make sure you are all set up with your choices at then at your time slot you click select
S’s slot is during a time that he won’t be able to log in (he’ll be at work). Was wondering if mom or dad should go ahead and pick a bed in his preferred dorm. Can you change your selection during the self selection time period, or is it is set in stone once you select? OOS students also have to remember the time slots are Eastern time!!
4getit-- I think you can do the assignment for your son. My daughter just did hers this afternoon. You’d need his login information and the link in his housing email. And I also think (I asked housing this today) that you can go back in and cancel a selection and redo it any time during the open selection process.
We hit a few snags trying to figure out how to add her group of roommates but called the housing office and they were very helpful. Walked us through it. Her group of 4 got their first choice and there were plenty of spaces avalible.
Good luck!
Thanks! S managed to make it home early from work and choose the third spot in a suite wihere two guys had already selected spots. By late evening the fourth spot was taken too. Three engineers, one pre-med. @BearcatFan2 you are correct. Students do have the ability to change room selections. In this case it looks like the group is set, however! It was great to get an early selection time slot.
My daughter just made her dorm selection - DAAP floor of Daniels. She picked the first spot in a quad (DAAP floors seemed wierdly empty! We thought they would be almost full by now…). Question for anyone who has actually seen Daniels - are the bathrooms on the ends? Thats what we assumed, so decided on a room in the middle…Also, are triples the same size room as quads, just with fewer beds?
the bathrooms are on the center of each floor in daniels…very crowded in a quad…i say pay the extra money and be in a single
Does anyone know if rooms on floor 1 of Daniels are on ground level?
Thank you, @daapmom! Good to know about the bathrooms - we picked a middle room assuming bathrooms were on the ends! Will have to change that…
As for single vs quad -she’s just concerned if she is in a single it will be harder to make friends…
our daughter was originally in a quad on a DAAP floor she didn’t meet many people because lots of them spent all their time in the studio. she did not have a great experience in a quad. she and her roomies did not get along at all. since we live out of town and she was miserable we had her moved 2nd semester to a single on a non DAAP floor. she loved it she actually met her boyfriend whom she has now been with for over 2 years. she made many friends on the floor when she was in the single because they were all in singles they were more social in the hallways.
Thank you! I will let my daughter know.
the first floor of daniels has meeting rooms. the dorm rooms actually start on the 2nd floor
Does it always fill up this fast? My son’s pick is not for another week.
My son selected his room on the DAAP floor very early (2nd day of selections) and he expected the DAAP floor to fill very quickly. Surprisingly the DAAP floors (7&8) each have 50+ bed spaces available as of today.
The non-DAAP floors are filling much quicker. For floors 1,3,4,10,have a total of15 beds available in quads. Floor 2 (STEM + nursing) has 23 beds open. It looks like the other floors are full.
@UniformMom, just wanted to let you know there are still about 40 beds available (mostly quads) on the DAAP floors of Daniels… Your son should be ok…
Thanks @FLMom2Four. My son is a CCM/Honors student. He did get in a week earlier than his date for choosing, but mostly because they wanted to open the CCM floors in Siddall to others.
