Hi,
My three most desired courses are labeled as both FYS and CAP.
Am I more likely to be selected for one of these courses if I list them under both my FYS preferences AND my CAP preferences? Or should I list 3 different courses under my CAP preferences (and have 6 unique courses in total)?

There’s no way to know. Don’t overthink it.
Remember that there are thousands of more courses you can take, and plenty of ones very similar to FYS in size and scope–there isn’t inherently that much value in doing an FYS. Don’t feel like you have to do one or that you should do one for the sake of doing one, is what I’m saying! It’s great if there are classes you are interested in, but keep in mind that it will be hard to get into many of them and there are plenty of more other options once you get to campus and register for the rest of your classes (and you have 8 semesters to take classes!).
