I was admitted RD to Georgia Tech for the College of Design architecture program, and just today I received my financial aid package.
I got about $20,000 for the year, but since I’m out of state, the cost is around $48,000. From FAFSA my EFC is only $2,000, so I’m out a lot here. Does anyone know how or if I can appeal to get more money from the school? I got offers from Illinois Tech, Rensselaer Polytechnic, and Drexel University for about $50,000 each, and I’m wondering if I can sort of bargain/negotiate with GA Tech to get more of my need met.
Any advice at all would be appreciated! I really want to go to this school.
Attended an admitted student event and they specifically stated and emphasized that they do not match offers, so don’t even try. They do not bargain or negotiate. Sorry.
OP-I am so sorry but Georgia Tech is known for not being financial generous with OOS. The ways that OOS make it affordable include doing study abroad (you may in-state) or earn money from co-ops/internships to pay for tuition. Rarely does GT grant appeals and given them those other schools’ awards will not do anything. Unless a student wins Stamps, I rarely have my high-need OOS apply to GT.
