Gah! Such a tease!

My son got an email earlier this week with the subject "Explore your first year at "

Lots and lots of sentences like “…the bigger picture of how you will fit into it.” and “This is YOUR moment: everyone has arrived on campout and the celebration kicks into high gear. You’re making new friends and exploring the best that [we] have to offer.” Those could all be a generic “you” but they sound a little bit more direct than other emails have…
And there are links to what move in and orientation look like - though without dates.
Then we saw the “enroll now” button. That seems pretty clear.

Pop over to his application dashboard: application is being reviewed.

So, after several days and still no acceptance letter, I come over here to post an “is this a likely letter?” question and pull up the email to refresh my memory on what exactly it said - and that button is gone!
Either that or I just can’t find it, but I’ve looked everywhere and I think the page it was on before was quietly redirected to the same one all the others had been. :frowning:
Looking at the url more closely, it says audience=admits-f21. I don’t really understand all of the stuff that shows up in a url, but looks like they sent this to admitted students LAST year. It had been a long time since we’d heard from them, so I’m guessing they were looking for something they could send out and a quick scan missed the link that would take us to the enrollment page.

So disappointing.

And… my husband’s cynical reply: we should have put down our deposit when we had the chance. Now the class is probably full with people they admitted by accident.

They wouldn’t really let people actually stay enrolled just because they accidentally got the link and put money down, right? Right??
I’m kicking myself now for not doing that, because even if they don’t let just anyone in because they found the button to sign up, they MIGHT fast track those admission decisions so they only have to admit their mistake to the ones they’re rejecting.

That’s odd.

If you hadn’t seen the enroll now button, I would just think it’s more marketing to get your kid to commit once decisions are released. And it might still just be marketing, but perhaps they released that email too soon. Maybe a bunch of people got it by mistake. You have no way of knowing, of course.

There have been a number of well publicized instances when colleges accidentally admitted people by mistake. Those people were “unadmitted” so don’t get too excited. Sorry!

It looks like anyone can get to the “enroll now” page without the button, just a couple of clicks from their home page, and they have it locked to accept only the email addresses of accepted students. It looks different than I remember though, and I don’t recall the note saying to be sure to use the email address that was on your application before.
So, either, nothing would have happened if someone tried to put down that deposit, or possibly, that button may have taken them to a less-restricted page to enroll - in Fall 2021 classes. But I’m feeling better about it either way.
