How exactly do you go about gaining ohio residency after your first year. I read what they said on the osu site, but what exactly do they mean by “not recieving money outside of the state of ohio” or however they state it.

I think they want you to live, work, vote, pay taxes, and receive all of your "cost of living" etc. from within Ohio. They don't want mommy and daddy or some other source still paying your way (in and/or out of college) from out of state.

They don't want you "going home" to somewhere outside of Ohio during summer break (that may be the biggest test).

They don't want you "going home" to somewhere outside of Ohio during summer break (that may be the biggest test). Where will you live when school is not in session, and how will your "out-of-school" livelihood be financed?

Bottom line is, are you truly moving to Ohio or just temporarily living there while school is in session?

Well, to save all that money i'd definately rent a place and live there in the summer when i'm not in school and switch everything over to ohio, however just being from out of state makes it hard since obviously you can't TOTALLY support yourself in college, even if you have a job.

My understanding from friends who live in Ohio and work at OSU is that it is ridiculously easy to "meet the residency requirements" for in state tuition.

Yeah I was thinking it could be because their percentage of non-residents is some amazingly low number like 10%.
