Gameday Recommendations

Hi! I will be traveling down to USC for the Florida game the weekend of November 11. Does anyone have recommendations for things to do on gameday? (Where to eat, how early to get to the stadium, gameday festivites)
This will be my second time to USC, but last time I went I came for a university tour. I can’t wait!

There’s no game time for Florida game yet - so could be anywhere from around noon to 7 pm. Look at http://www.gamecocksonline.com/ot/game-day-information.html for general information including about shuttle and clear bag policy. The team does Gamecock walk approximately 2.5 hours before kickoff which is fun. If the game is in middle of day, it will take up most of your day.

If game is in evening, then visit the Soda City market on main street on Saturday morning. Lots of good food and a feel for downtown where there are lots of students now. Great food truck options. If you want to eat in some USC favorites, try Yesterday’s, Andy’s Deli or Groucho’s in Five Points. Beezers and Cool Beans near Horseshoe. Lots of good food in Vista as well.

Check out the USC newspaper The Daily Gamecock online before you go to see what’s happening around campus that weekend.

Have fun.

@scmom12 the game is at noon! Any recommendations for things to do after the game, like where to eat? Also, what time do you recommend arriving for pregame festivities? We will be traveling from Atlanta but are willing to wake up early!

Check the website above for more gameday info. Follow Gamecock Athletics on Twitter. They release the actual schedule for that week’s shuttle and player walk later in week. Best and cheapest way to get to stadium (parking expensive) is to ride shuttle for $3 so easier to get there last minute, but be sure to be there for pregame and team coming onto field - so in stadium by 11:30. Earlier you can see players walk to stadium but that’s likely to be around 9:30 am. In between walk around and check out tailgating in Gamecock Park - I think that’s where you’re most likely to see things available to public (as opposed to private tailgate parties in other parking areas.

Afterwards head for the Vista - lots of restaurants to choose from including chains like Mellow Mushroom, Five Guys, etc and good local places. If you’re here overnight you might want to see what’s happening at Music Farm (music venue). Again, check online version of Daily Gamecock to see what’s happening of interest to students.

My D often took shuttle down to game, but walked back (with a group) to campus because of bad traffic and wait time for shuttles if you stay until the very end of game. Wear walking shoes!
