gap year- can you defer and apply?

hi all...i really need some advice

I am an international living in the US and I have wanted to do a gap year for awhile and intent on doing it before i enter college

I have been accepted into a top 15 college, commmitted, like it a lot...however, I didn't request any fin aid (because it's not need blind to international) and it's hard, but not impossible, for my parents to pay it all

if I defer admissions...could I apply to some other colleges next year that are need blind to internationals?

this is only part of the reason I want to take a gap year....I have some cool ideas I will probably never get to do if I don't right now...you only live life once right?

It’s not ethical to hold a spot at school #1 and re-apply to more schools at the same time.

fiona, i don’t think he asked if it’s ethical… i think he’s asking if it is possible…

I think that there are some colleges that allow you to defer admission without your committing to attend the college after your gap year. You’d have to check with your college to see if that’s possible.

If not, you’d need to withdraw your acceptance if you plan to apply to other colleges during your gap year.
