Gap year for an international student. Ideas about possible activities during this?

<p>I do have some ideas. But I'm just brainstorming for more. </p>

<p>And are gap year students at a disadvantage, especially if they are international? From personal experience, it has been 50-50, but what is the general perception in the US?</p>

<p>Gap years are OK. Don’t worry about that. Being international is what will make your admissions difficult - especially if you need financial aid. A gap year won’t make it any harder.</p>

<p>However, most gap year students who got in from my country are IPhO or IMO participants/medalists. I, on the other hand, am perhaps going to major in economics, so I never really paid much attention to these. That scares me now.</p>
