So here's the deal: I'm probably transferring out of Umiami--its not academic enough, dont like the social life or the people here that much, etc

I still have to hear from Brown, Dartmouth, Bowdoin and Wake Forest. I have been accepted to in-state Uconn.
I was already rejected, surprisingly a little, by Washu.

SO...if I get rejected from Brown, Dmouth, Bowdoin and Wake (which I'm not too sure I wanna go to)...would it be okay to take a gap year? How would admissions work if I did take a gap year? Has anyone personally ever done this?

My gap year would be me trying to get a good internship for a little and then traveling/service around the world the rest of the time.

I dont think Uconn is a bad school. It's just I'm too "nerdy" for Miami and know that Uconn won't be any better in this sense. So do I take a gap year and reapply to some other schools?

Yes, it is a plausible idea, because you can build your ECs. But if you can accomplish that in a summer’s time, you are doing yourself a slight disfavor. Going to college and getting a 4.0 can only help you, considering your grades in high school likely need “experience,” too. I hope you know what I mean. I don’t know enough to give any other advice. Sorry if it was a bit obvious.

But I just dont wanna go to 3 colleges in 4 years…it seems so dumb to me.

and I don’t wanna deal with applications again (altho this isnt a good reason)

Honestly I wish I had known you a few months ago. Dartmouth, Brown are incredibly difficult to get into for transfers, and Bowdoin can be extremely difficult as well on the wrong year. I think if you have to apply again next time I would check out Rice, Northwestern, WashU, Emory, UNC, Michigan, and Georgetown all of which are less selective than their first year admissions.

yeah I already got rejected from washu. I regret not applying to vanderbilt as well. i screwed up another application process. fu**
