Hello. I am an international student from Sri Lanka planning to apply to UAH for Spring 2016 or Fall 2016. However, the catch is that I am currently on my Gap year. I have not attended any university or received any college credit during this gap year. So I wanted to ask if I will be considered ‘First Time Freshmen’ or not? And will I receive the guaranteed scholarship that is offered to all other freshmen.
Please guide me.
Bump…
@SriDude
I believe the answer is yes, you will still qualify for the first time freshman merit scholarships. You do need to verify this with the school.
You have probably noticed that @UAHAdmissions does frequently answer questions directly on this forum; however, it is currently a 3 day weekend in the United States and the university is closed until Tuesday. You can wait until next Tuesday or Wednesday to see if you get a response here. Otherwise, try emailing them directly at UAHAdmissions@uah.edu. Again, don’t expect a response for a couple of days due to the long holiday weekend.
@ThreeKidsMom Thank you mam for such a prompt reply. I hope I do get the freshmen scholarships.
Does anyone else knows anything about this? Or have heard or received merit tuition scholarship at UAH. Please help me. I would love to receive as many opinions as I possibly can. Please help me.
Yes if you are a first time freshman you are eligible. This is so at most every university. However I am not sure about spring admits. Many only give for fall. This is just a message board with random posters. You can only rely on info from admissions office so why all this time have you not emailed the office?
You should probably contact @mom2collegekids. She really knows alot about the university.
Hello @SriDude ,
The University of Alabama in Huntsville does offer Merit Tuition Scholarships to international students who have not attended another university! The best way to find out about all of UAH’s scholarships for international students is to contact either The Office of Financial Aid [finaid@uah.edu or 256-824-6650) or The Office of International Engagement (isss@uah.edu or 256-824-2744). Also, here is a link to The Office of International Engagement’s admissions and scholarship process: http://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/additional-info-for/international . If you will call or e-mail the university directly, there is a much faster response rate.
Thank you
I have talked to the international office and they told me that I will be considered a First Time Freshmen and will be eligible for all the Merit scholarships offered to other freshmen. Thank you everyone for your quick and kind replies.
@SriDude
That’s great news!
