GAP year to raise GPA??

Hi

I am thinking to have my kid to take a gap year not for travel, or doing any project, but attending school as I found some schools have a gap year program.

There are a few reasons I think a gap year studying in a HS is beneficial to her, and they are mainly because of the skill sets that she needs to study college.
I knew I should be checking with those high schools as well… In case someone aware and my questions here are that

a. for the classes she takes during the gap year, can she send it to the colleges as part of the overall GPA calculation? or is the GPA calculation ends at 12th grade?

b. What will happen if she has not finished all required courses at the end of 12th grade, can she repeat 12th grade and include the grades in the 5th year as part of the calculation?

c. I assume she can take SAT/ACT and submit the new scores during her gap year for college?

d. Does college normally ask for explanation for the reason for a 5th year?

thanks

What you are considering is known as a Post Graduate or PG year, not a gap year. I think asking your questions of the schools offering the PG year would give you the best and most accurate information.

Why not just start at community college? If there is some amazing trajectory she could transfer to a suitable 4 yr later,

thanks for the clarification… I do plan to check with the school she is applying to… @Alfonsia, the reason I do not plan on community college is that she does need the skill set for college, teaching (and expectation) of those skill sets will be quite different between HS and community college
